*At the Calexico School District where Kiki (and Mika) grew up a bust was installed at each of the three schools Kiki attended. They are: Dool Elementary, De Anza Junior High, and Calexico High School. The fourth was installed in the Administration Building.
An additional Camarena Bust is part of the DEA Museum’s traveling exhibit, “Target America: Opening Eyes to the Damage Drugs Cause.” The bust joined the exhibit when it was in New York City on September 12, 2004. Previously the exhibit was shown at Arlington, Virginia; Dallas, Texas and Ashland, Nebraska. It has since shown in Detroit, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois. The display is currently at the Museum of Science in Los Angeles.
The Camarena Bust program originated with personnel of the U. S. DEA office in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico in 2000. The Camarena Foundation was formed in 2004 to honor and further the work of all fallen and wounded narcotic officers through prevention efforts.
